Fenton Optimists Launch Threads For Kids Program
Club aims to fill a void identified by area middle school principals.

The Fenton Area Optimist Club has partnered with area middle schools to help fill a void by providing new T-shirts, socks, gym shoes and new or gently used jeans for middle-school aged students.
New and gently used jackets and winter coats also are being accepted.
The FAOC membership also has provided funding so that school administrators will be able to draw discreetly provide for children in need. The club hopes to make this a community project, and to that end, donation receptacles are now located in Fenton, Linden Middle School and .

The receptacles will be in place through the end of November, and will be placed in school lobbies again in the early spring.
“We are asking area residents to donate what they can toward this worthy project,” said Vera Hogan, president of the Fenton Area Optimist Club. “T-shirts, socks, gym shoes and new or gently used jeans are needed for girls and boys in grades 5-8.

“Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated by our club membership and the young recipients of your generosity,” she added.
