Fenton Personal Trainer to Mix Pumpkins with Fitness

Shaped by Shawn putting on Freaky Fat Loss Pumpkin Workout for Charity Saturday.

You can celebrate Halloween without putting on weight of gorging on candy and help the American Cancer Society at the same time Saturday in Fenton.

Shawn Stevens, owner of Fenton’s , is hosting a Freaky Fat Loss Pumpkin Workout for Charity at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1490 Torrey Road.

Participants are asked to bring a pumpkin (5-10 lb for women, 10-25 lb. for men) and wear a comfortable and festive orange and black outfit.

“We will use a pumpkin like a medicine ball,” Stevens said. “So the weight of the pumpkin will vary depending on the individual. We will use it for curls, push-ups with hands on the pumpkin, squats holding the pumpkin.”

There will be six or seven stations of different exercises.

Suggested donation for the event is $20 and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

“Most people put the emphasis on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but the challenge actually begins right when the eating festivities begin,” Stevens said. “Halloween is a time for many candies and treats, but it doesn’t have to be a time for expanding waist lines.”
