Fenton's The Quilters Garden Offers Quality Fabric
The Quilters Garden features Batik, a hand-dyed, tightly woven cotton fabric that is easy to work with, owner says.
Carolyn Nance wanted a local source of quality quilting fabric, but when she couldn't find any place less than an hour drive away.
So she decided to be that local source.
Nance opened The Quilters Garden in 2000 and know sells fabric, patterns, books, and thread. She says not all of her customers are women, in fact she said she has quite a few men and even children.

How did your business come to be?
There was no source to purchase quality quilting fabric within an hour away from Fenton and I couldn't keep traveling so far so I opened a Quilting shop in Fenton.
What's your most popular product or service?
Our most popular product is a cotton fabric called Batik. Batik's are hand dyed, tightly woven and are very easy to work with. The Quilters Garden has more Batik's than other Quilt Shops which make us a destination for traveling Quilters.
What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?
Most people think of quilt makers as women. We have several male customers and even children. Quilt making is very therapeutic and very gratifying.
What does your business offer?
The Quilters Garden offers quality cotton fabric to be used in quilt making. We also offer patterns, books, thread and many other notions used for quilt making and general sewing. We offer classes for beginner quilts through advanced techniques. We have classes for hand embroidery, purses and other home decor. We even have a class for a beginner sewer to make a pillowcase. If you have a sewing machine we can get you going.
When was the business founded?
The Quilters Garden opened January, 2000. We were located in Dibbleville and moved to the VG's plaza on North Leroy in December 2007.
Why did you choose the area you did?
I live in Fenton.
