Teenager enjoyed the simple things while battling cancer.

If it was spirit that could keep the body alive, Katie would still be with us. But bodies can only take so much and on Tuesday Katie’s couldn’t take any more.
“You’ll never see her without that smile,” said eighth-grader Cassi Adams, 14, in January “She won’t let anyone know she’s in pain.”
It was easy to see her friends held her in a high regard.
“She’s amazing,” said Fenton eighth-grader Madison Ballard, 13 in January. “She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body.”
It was also easy to see why.
When she was asked what she really wanted for her special night, Katie’s Game, in January,
That carefree spirit seemed to draw people to her.
Even though she was battling one of the toughest things a teenager could go through, she wanted to know how her friends were doing.
Katie and her family were overwhelmed by the support Fenton community gave them, while the Fenton community was amazed by the spirit Katie had.
That spirit to fight, that spirit to battle, that spirit to be kind, the spirit to live every day to the fullest, the spirit to forget about major problems and enjoy the simple things in life.
While its true Katie is no longer physically with us, her spirit will most definitely live on in the hearts of her family, friends and the countless others she has touched.
