Lake Fenton is entering the heart of its schedule, with Goodrich, North Branch and Montrose on the slate after Beecher. The Blue Devils must win at least two of those four games to have a chance at the six-win plateau, which would make them eligible for the playoffs.

"We’ll definitely have a better gauge on our team based on how the next few weeks go, but it is a fun time for us and we have a tremendous opportunity to show that on Friday," Lake Fenton coach Eric Doyle said.

Lake Fenton closes the season against Bridgeport, a program that hasn’t won a game since 2008.

Friday’s game should be a good matchup, as Lake Fenton has shown both speed and physicality. Lake Fenton beat the Bucs 27-20 last season.

"Beecher will definitely be a tough test for us, one I hope we are prepared and ready for," Doyle said. "They are scary in space and have some tremendous weapons, but fortunately we do too."

Some consider Beecher a league favorite. Their only loss came in a double-overtime defeat to Flint Northwestern in the season opener. Lake Fenton will have to deal with the speed of running back Jimmel Fleming, who put up 134 yards last week, and quarterback Antuan Burks, who threw for three scores. The Bucs also had two kick returns for touchdowns in a win against Mt. Morris last week.

Beecher is coached by former Michigan State standout and NFL wide receiver Courtney Hawkins.

"I think we are also a tough team to prepare for, much the way Beecher is," Doyle said.
