Lake Fenton Softball, Baseball Advance to District Final

The softball team advanced to the district final Saturday with a 1-0 victory against Atherton at Bendle High School.

Alyssa McCoy singled home Taylor Sheyachich in the third inning for the game's lone run.

Paula Valacak struck out four and surrendered six hits to claim the win on the mound.

The Lake Fenton defense helped her with two double plays, one with the bases loaded in the third inning and another with two runners on in the fourth inning.

McCoy and Alex Wilkinson each had two hits.

The Lake Fenton baseball team also advanced to the district final with a 4-2 win against Bendle, before falling to Byron in the district final 18-0 in a four-inning mercy.

In the opening game, the Blue Devils were aided by Tigers errors, as two runs came home in the first inning on a ground ball off the bat of Spencer Quick when it was booted by the Bendle shortstop.

Cory Pierce scored another Lake Fenton run in the third on another error.

Lake Fenton pitcher Mitch Kirk did the rest and picked up the complete game victory.
