Michigan Eye Institute Breaks Ground on New Facility

Residents and visitors will begin “seeing” quite a change in Fenton beginning this week.

Michigan Eye Institute has been a Fenton-area healthcare business for 20 years with five locations. Now the region’s premier, fully integrated eye care practice will move its Fenton facility into a new 5,300 square foot facility on Silver Parkway in Fenton.

“We’re very thankful for the people of Fenton who have been our patients for all of these years,” said Brian Hayes of the Michigan Eye Institute. “Our primary focus is making our Fenton location more convenient for our patients and giving them more access to our physicians. We’re extremely excited to continue our tradition of providing state-of-the-art facilities to our patients in Silver Parkway.”

The new building will be equipped with a LASIK suite, full optical services including eyeglasses, contact and sunglasses, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology and optometry services. The new building will allow MEI to expand their hours and days of operation to better serve their patients.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Michigan Eye Institute expanding in Silver Parkway,” says Michael Burns, Fenton's assistant city manager and Downtown Development Authority director. “It’s a big year for business expansion in Fenton, and great companies like MEI are the reason for our success.”

In addition to the investment MEI is making in Fenton, other current development projects include the redevelopment of the , the estimated $4 millio and forthcoming bakery now being developed on Caroline Street.

 “We’re pleased to see everyone looking to Fenton to grow their businesses,” says Burns. “It’s very telling of the great community we have here.

Construction on the MEI development will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by January. MEI is working with architects CHMP, Inc and Case Construction on the project.

“We owe a lot of thanks to the city of Fenton for taking good care of us,” says Hayes. “It was a really smooth transition for us, and now we’re ready to move forward with this exciting project.
