One Fenton Road Project Nears Completion, Another Is on Schedule
Walnut Street construction is nearly completed, while the Adelaide project is likely to be finished by Labor Day.

For those traveling on the east side of Fenton, a road will soon be reopened.
Dan Czarnecki, Fenton's Department of Public Works director, said work is nearly completed on Walnut Street as crews have been reconstructing the roadway between Ellen Street and Silver Lake Road.
It was repaved this week and now crews are finishing up minor details with concrete and planting new grass seed along the road.

"It went very well," Czarnecki said. "We tried to be cooperative, and people were very understanding."

The estimated construction cost for the road improvements is $203,000. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and the Genesee County Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) provided construction funding for the project.
Meanwhile, the Adelaide Street water main project continues.
The is replacing a 12-inch, cast-iron water main with a new ductile iron water main along Adelaide and North roads from South Holly Road to Oak Park.Â
"It's moving along," Czarnecki said. "We are going to get an asphalt base put down next week. Once they have that hard surfaced, then we will move on to North Street. Everything is on target. So far, so good."
The project is expected to be completed by Labor Day.
The section of the water system is susceptible to breaks and is a link between the water treatment plant and the storage tanks. The project is being constructed in two phases. The first phase began at the end of July 2010 from South Holly Road to Silver Lake Road. Phase 2 from Silver Lake Road to Oak Park continues.
Along with the water main replacement, the roadway along Adelaide will be repaved. Sidewalk ramps will be replaced to meet requirements of the ADA. The width of North Road will be resurfaced from Adelaide to Oak Park.
The project will include the installation of a 400-foot water main connection from the Whisperwood Condominiums to the adjacent subdivision to create a looped water system. The construction cost is estimated to be $2.25 million.
