Police Blotter: Retail Fraud, Destruction of Property

Here is a look at the city of Fenton Police action from April 9 to April 12.

Police arrested a man on charges of retail fraud on April 11.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said an Auto Zone employee reported that a man had concealed items under his clothing and exited the store around 1 p.m.

The store manager stopped the man after he had exited the building and asked him if he wanted to pay for the items he had allegedly taken. The employee reported that the suspect swore at him and left the premises, Aro said.

Aro added that store manager reported he called other area Auto Zone stores and told them to be on the lookout for man returning items. Aro said the Fenton store received a call from the Flint Auto Zone around 2 p.m., when the man had tried to return the items.

The man was arrested by the Flint Township Police Department, and picked up by the , where he was held overnight and then released with a court date, Aro said. He added that the man is suspected of taking items valued around $500.

Destruction of property

Around 3 p.m. April 11, police received a call about a destruction of property complaint.

Aro said an employee at the North Winds Plaza on the 1500 block of North Leroy reported that he saw "two suspicious men" in dark clothing and later noticed new spray paint on the side of the building.

However, she could not provide descriptions of the males and police have no suspects and consider the case closed.
