7 a.m. - Polls open

7:40 a.m. - Fenton resident Sheree Russ was voter No. 11 at precinct 3 in Fenton. She said 40 absentee ballots had been cast.

8:30 a.m. - Fenton Patch posted a for Fenton and Fenton Township residents.

9:30 a.m. - Fenton resident Derek Mikolajczyk voted at and said it wasn't busy at all. He posted on the Fenton Patch Facebook Page that his vote went to Ron Paul.

"The military stands up for us, Ron Paul stands up for them VOTE FOR PAUL IN 2012," he said.

10:30 a.m. - A total of 233 absentee ballots were sent out by the city of Fenton and 198 had been returned as of Tuesday morning.

11:30 a.m. - Fenton Township resident Jennifer Haney was voter 96 in precinct 1 at Lake Fenton High School. She said it was "not busy" at all.

12 p.m. - The crowd starts to pick up a little bit at the St. John Activity Center.

  • Precinct 5 - 129 ballots
  • Precinct 4 - 98 ballots
  • Precinct 3 - 142 ballots
  • Precinct 2 - 106 ballots
  • Precinct 1 - 101 ballots

Fenton city clerk Jennifer Naismith expects turnout to increase into the afternoon and the evening around 5 p.m. She said everything has moved smoothly so far.

1:30 p.m. - at Fenton Township poll.

2 p.m. - Around 1,000 ballots had been cast in Fenton Township.

Fenton Township clerk Bob Krug said he expects a 21 to 23 percent turnout. He said 887 absentee ballots had been sent out and 884 had been returned.

4:30 p.m. - A total of 1,145 people have voted in the city of Fenton.

  • Precinct 5 - 219 ballots
  • Precinct 4 - 231 ballots
  • Precinct 3 - 237 ballots
  • Precinct 2 - 258 ballots
  • Precinct 1 - 201 ballots

Election chair Elnora Pasco said things have been smooth and steady.
