Two officers and a man are recovering after a violent struggle inside an Oakland County home, police said.

FERNDALE, MI — A man and two Wayne County Sheriff's officers were injured in a Tuesday morning shooting during a struggle at an Oakland County home, police said.

Officers responded to a home on the 700 block of E. Webster Street in Ferndale at 8:45 a.m. when they said a man tried cutting off his GPS tether, police said.

When officers arrived at the home, they talked to the 25-year-old man through a window before determining he was suffering from a mental health crisis, police said.

Officers then used a stun gun on him, but it didn't work and he kept moving toward the officers, police said.

When the man refused to stop moving toward the officers, one of the officers fired two shots, striking the man in the abdomen and arm, police said.

The man dropped to the ground but still continued fighting with the officers, police said.

The man stabbed one officer in the leg and another officer's hand was injured by a knife as they tried to arrest him, police said.

The 25-year-old was in stable condition, as well as the two officers, police said.

It was unclear why the man was on a tether.

Officials were still investigating the shooting.
