Ferndale Baby Store Wants Your Disposable Diapers
Modern Natural Baby needs diapers for a new window display and is offering customers 20 cents store credit for each diaper they bring in.

When Modern Natural Baby put the word out earlier this week that they needed disposable diapers for a new window display project, customers were quick to respond.
Over the past few days more than 1,500 diapers have been brought into the downtown Ferndale store, which is giving customers 20 cents in store credit for each diaper.
"We've had a huge response to this," said owner Emily Murray. "I'm shocked ... we had no idea that we would get this many this fast."

Murray is hoping to collect 3,800 diapers to use for the window display, which she says will "make a really good statement." If all goes as planned, the display will be ready by April 20 - the date the store will take part in this year's Great Cloth Diaper Change.
Many customers are bringing in disposable diapers leftover from before they started using cloth diapers while others still have unopened packages of diapers from their baby showers.

"We offered to buy them from people just to make it easier for us and for them," Murray said. "People have these laying around but aren't doing anything with them."
And she said at least one family was compelled by the store credit offer to make the switch to cloth diapers- a main item carried by the natural baby store.
"That was what they needed to make the decision to do it," she said. "They brought in a big stack of disposables. That was awesome."
All of the diapers will be donated after the window display is taken down; the specific organization has not yet been chosen but Murray says she is looking into the Detroit Area Diaper Bank, HAVEN and other suggestions from customers.
All brands of diapers are being accepted however the store does not need Pull-Ups or swim diapers. For more information, call Modern Natural Baby at 248-629-6306.
