The scene started earlier on Sunday when the man jumped from the moving car on N. Holly Road in Holly Township, after the two began arguing, police said.

The man then returned to the car, as they continued toward their residence in Southfield. However, the car ran out of gas alongside I-696 in Oak Park. And that's when the officers showed up, police said.

Both adults had a Concealed Pistol License and police found the man's pistol on the side of Holly Road, where the man jumped out of the car, police said.

The children were released to a relative.
