"Everything is authentic," Sotelo said. "We try to bring the whole experience of Mexico to a restaurant in Michigan."

The menu will feature appetizers such as esquites and nopalitos, which Sotelo said is a unique mix of flavors, as well as traditional soups that we normally can enjoy in Mexico City.

She also said Carajillo will serve unique dishes for tacos that you can't find anywhere else nearby, such as pioneros.

The menu will also have vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and there will be a full bar with Mexican-flavored cocktails and beer, including its namesake drink, carajillo, which is a drink mixed with coffee and brandy, Sotelo said.

It's the same Woodward spot at Troy Street that housed the Emory before it closed down at the end of 2024.

Carajillo will be open Tuesday and Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday: 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
