New Peruvian Restaurant To Debut In Ferndale This April
A new Peruvian restaurant is coming to the former Southern Belle Bistro space in Ferndale, and could be open as soon as early April.
Culantro, a new restaurant offering Peruvian cuisine, may open in downtown Ferndale as soon as early April, according to Metro Times. The restaurant will occupy the former Southern Belle Bistro, and the owners say the spot will be Michiganβs only 100% Peruvian eatery.
The food, described as similar to Cuban cuisine, consists of meat and rice dishes primarily. Diners might sample mais morado, purple Peruvian corn native to the Andes, and culantro, the restaurantβs namesake, an head akin to cilantro also popular in the South American nation. The restaurant will also feature pollo a la brasa, chicken that spends a full day marinating in spices before being roasting in a charcoal oven.
