• Defendant in Orchid Theatre shooting found not guilty (candgnews.com) — A Ferndale jury has acquitted a 29-year-old man of all charges in an April shooting outside the Orchid Theatre nightclub on West Nine Mile, where a Warren man was wounded but survived. The case relied in part on camera technology and ended Dec. 10 with a not-guilty verdict, and prosecutors and Ferndale police are respecting the jury’s decision while his bond is being canceled. 
• Royal Oak announces Joe Gacioch is no longer city manager (candgnews.com) — Ferndale residents may recognize former city manager Joe Gacioch, who has now left his short-lived post as Royal Oak’s city manager after less than a year. Royal Oak officials ended his contract without public explanation and installed an interim leadership team, while noting Gacioch previously led Ferndale’s administration for about five years and worked there since 2012.
• Two metro Detroit residents with ties to Australia share their heartbreak and resilience (wxyz.com) — A local rabbi who helps lead Jewish Ferndale is sharing how an attack at a Chanukah celebration in Sydney has shaken his family and friends abroad while inspiring renewed resilience at home. Alongside another Metro Detroit resident born near the attack site, he describes grief, fear, and a determination to keep celebrating Chanukah and spreading light despite the violence.
