Popular Oakland County Restaurant Closing Down After 12 Years

A well-known metro Detroit burger joint, known for their sliders, will take over the space in February.

FERNDALE, MI β€” A popular Ferndale restaurant is permanently closing down in February after more than a decade, according to a news release.

Public House, located at 241 W. Nine Mile Road and best-known for their sliders, cocktails and neighborhood vibes, is closing its doors on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Hometown Restaurant Group CEO Brian Kramer said the rising costs of food and labor, as well as more competition were contributing factors in the closing. He said "this was a very difficult decision and a heartbreaking decision."

"The restaurant business is very difficult right now. In my 30-plus years in the restaurant business, I’ve never experienced a tougher economy than what we are experiencing today. Add to this the high food costs, high labor costs, intense competition, the need for constant quality control, tight profit margins and endless hours of work β€” we just agreed the time was right to close the restaurant, take a step back, focus on our other restaurant operations and give someone else a chance to re-concept the location," Kramer said.

For its last week open, Public house will be open:
