Sing Along to 'Mamma Mia!' During Outdoor Movie Night in Ferndale
The free "Get Reel โ Outdoor Movies on Vester Street" series returns for a second season beginning Thursday, July 18, with pre-show entertainment by the Detroit Actors Theatre Company.

Ferndale's summerย outdoor movie series kicks off Thursday, July 18, on Vester Streetย with a screening of the sing-a-long musicalย โMamma Mia!โย
"A performing troupe from the Detroit Actors Theatre Company will help lead the sing-a-long.ย Showtime is at dusk.ย Pre-movie entertainment begins at 8 p.m. and guests are invited to pick their 'street spot' as early as 6 p.m.," according to the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority.ย
The three-monthย โGet Reel โ Outdoor Movies on Vester Streetโ series, now in its second year, is part of the Ferndale DDA's Third Thursdays promotion.ย

The other two shows will be held on the following dates.
- Aug. 15: A showing of "Grease" will kick off the city's Woodward Dream Cruise celebration ahead of the classic car parade Aug. 17. ย Pre-show entertainment likely will include hand jive lessons, according to the DDA.
- Sept. 19: The movie has not yet been selected and may be based on public input from the first two Get Reel nights, the DDA says.

- Where: Vester Street in Ferndale near Valentine Distilling. Vester between Woodward and Bermuda will close at 3 p.m. for the event.
- Cost: Free.
- What else: Bring your own lawn chair, blanket,ย picnic food and non-alcoholic beverages. No glass orย alcohol are allowed. Guests can park their lawn chairs on Vester as early as 6 p.m.
