U-Haul Trucks Smash Through Oakland County, Detroit Businesses: Police
Police believe the suspects were trying to steal an ATM.

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are investigating after a driver smashed a U-Haul truck into an Oakland County business overnight in an attempted burglary.
The incident happened at 3:25 a.m. Monday at the Prestige Hookah and Smoke Shop at 8 Mile and Wyoming roads in Royal Oak Township, according to police.
Police said the driver of the U-Haul, along with two passengers, rammed through the front of the business and tried to steal an ATM.

By the time officers arrived at the business, which was closed at the time, the suspects had already left the store, according to police.
Police said the U-Haul truck was not reported stolen, but it did have a punched ignition and a damaged steering column.

Multiple water and electrical lines were damaged in the crash. Ferndale Fire and DTE were restoring the damaged lines.
Police were still working to determine if anything else was stolen from the business and asked anyone with information about the suspects to call the Metro North Post at 248.584.5740 or Crime Stoppers at 800.Speak.Up.
Roughly 20 minutes later, another U-Haul truck smashed into a Detroit business located at Fenkell near Hubbell, according to a WXYZ report.
It was immediately unclear what was taken and police didn't have any information about the suspects, according to the report.
It was also unclear if the two crashes were related.
