Wake Up With a Sun Salutation From Shine On Yoga
Owner Linda Marchione leads a series of gentle poses to help get your day started on a healthful, positive note.
Practicing yoga can benefit students of various fitness levels and even those with health challenges, Shine On Yoga owner Linda Marchione says.
The Huntington Woods resident, who recently tapped her life-savings to open the Ferndale studio, should know: She has Type I diabetes and wears an insulin pump to manage her condition.
"Sometimes, honestly, I wake up not feeling so good," she said. "But, it's all about your attitude."
The Mayo Clinic notes that yoga can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve heart function and manage chronic conditions.
"(Yoga's) not going to fix something, but it's helpful to care for your body and to care for your mind and your attitude," each day, Marchione said. "I want people to know, no matter what the issue is, it will help. This is about managing yourself."
