Kettering University Robotics Center Awarded $20,000 GM Community Impact Grant (kettering.edu) — Kettering University in Flint has received a $20,000 General Motors Community Impact Grant to expand hands-on robotics and drone education for local students. The award is part of a larger GM investment in Flint-area nonprofits, including the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint, Factory Two, and the Flint Children’s Museum, supporting STEAM learning, workforce skills, and community well-being.
   

2. Human Trafficking Forum to raise awareness on issue affecting Flint through art and storytelling (theflintcouriernews.com) — A free human trafficking awareness forum is coming to New Creation Church of God on Lennon Road in Flint on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can hear survivor stories, view art, and even enter a writing contest focused on giving a voice to the silenced, with winners announced during the event.
   

3. Laugh and cry with Mrs. Doubtfire: Family-friendly musical lands in Flint this month (midmichigannow.com) — Mrs. Doubtfire, the family-friendly musical, is headed to Flint’s Whiting Auditorium for one night only on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. Locals can expect fast-paced comedy, heartfelt moments about family, and discounted tickets for Genesee County residents starting at $32.
   

4. Flint man charged with dragging Bay County deputies from car during trading card theft (mlive.com) — A 45-year-old man from Flint is facing multiple felony charges after Bay County deputies say he tried to flee a Monitor Township Meijer with more than $1,000 in merchandise, injuring two officers in the process. Authorities allege he’s tied to tens of thousands of dollars in retail thefts across Michigan, while currently on Genesee County probation, with a court hearing set for later this month.
   

5. Former Flint City Bucks player earns training camp spot with Canada men's national team (mlive.com) — A former Flint City Bucks standout, Malik Henry, has earned his first call-up to Canada’s senior men’s national team, bringing Flint soccer ties closer to the 2026 World Cup. The 23-year-old ex-Bucks defender and winger will join Canada’s training camp in California as the team prepares for this summer’s global tournament.
