Residents can shop as members or non-members, with the co-op model keeping ownership and decision-making in local hands. Leaders say the store restores both access to healthy food and a sense of control over the community’s future.

2. $2,500 reward offered for information in man's shooting death in Flint (mlive.com) — Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for tips leading to an arrest in the Dec. 7 fatal shooting of 47-year-old Dominick Donielle Wright on North Chevrolet Avenue in Flint. Police say Wright was shot multiple times and died at Hurley Medical Center, and investigators are urging anyone with information to contact a Flint detective or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
   

3. Flint police concerned by potential mold in closed section of City Hall complex (mlive.com) — City employees have been ordered to avoid a basement area in Flint’s municipal complex after workers uncovered what appears to be mold, prompting air-quality testing and health concerns. Police union leaders and a city councilmember say officers have long complained about leaks, flooding, and symptoms, and they’re pressing for full testing and proper remediation across the entire City Hall complex.
   

4. Solar energy project approved at former GM landfill in Flint Township (mlive.com) — A long-vacant former GM landfill in Flint Township is set to become a 28-acre solar farm, after planners approved a key permit that returns the brownfield site to the tax rolls. Construction will likely start after soccer use ends in late 2026, and residents can follow next steps at the Jan. 8 planning commission meeting.

Why Flint Needs a Comedy Home—and Why JeCorey Hawkins Is Building It (flintside.com) — Flint comedian JeCorey Hawkins is working to create a permanent comedy club and eventually a full comedy festival in downtown Flint, giving local talent a dedicated stage.
