Community Conversation Regarding The New Community Transformation Fund

This conversation will build awareness of the new investment fund focusing on current and prospective business owners of color.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The City of Grand Rapids Office of Equity and Engagement in partnership with the West Michigan chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (WMNFBPA) will host a virtual community conversation regarding the New Community Transformation Fund on Monday, March 1 at 6 p.m. This conversation will build awareness of the new investment fund focusing on current and prospective business owners of color and why such a fund is needed to advance economic equity and have a more inclusive economy.

This virtual event will be a keynote presentation lead by Skot Welch, managing partner of the New Community Transformation Fund. Skot will share details of the fund, fund timeline and how diverse business owners can get access to up to $250,000 in investment funding. The fund is targeting advanced manufacturing, food processing, agribusiness, life sciences, medical devices and information technology businesses. WMNFBPA member and business developer with the City of Grand Rapids, Alvin Hills IV, and Skot Welch will then discuss why such a fund is needed and take questions from those viewing online.
