• West Michigan Owl Found With Zip Tie on Leg is Now Fighting for Survival (wgrd.com) — Veterinarians at the West Michigan Wildlife Center in Grand Rapids are fighting to save a Great Horned Owl found in a bag with a zip tie cutting off circulation to its leg. They’ve removed the tie and begun intensive treatment, but say a serious infection could still force euthanasia under federal rules, or permanent sanctuary care if it survives.

• Man hospitalized after stabbing near Big Rapids, deputies say (woodtv.com) — A Mecosta County man is in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital after being stabbed during a fight at a Martiny Township home Sunday afternoon. Deputies say the 44-year-old was first taken to a Big Rapids hospital, then airlifted to Grand Rapids, while a 28-year-old suspect was arrested nearby and booked into the Mecosta County Jail.
