1 Loss, 1 Win for Grosse Pointe Park 12s International Little League Team

The team is playing in the Great Lakes Regional tournament in Indianapolis, where the 2011 Little League World Series competitors will be determined.

Grosse Pointe Park's 12s International Little League team took another win Saturday evening against Rock Falls, IL, winning 8:2.

Saturday's game was the second for the Park in the Great Lakes Regional Tournament in Indianapolis. Winners from this tournament will advance to the 2011 Little League World Series in Pennsylvania.

It's the team's first bid at making it to the ultimate game for their league since 1979, according to parents and Park program officials.

The team left Grosse Pointe Park Thursday morning with a police-escort down Maryland and Kercheval. The Wednesday at recognizing all of the players from the league. 

The 12s International team first played Burlington, WI, Friday morning. Burlington won 7:1, according to Eagle Creek Little League--the program in Indianapolis updating scores and game information.

There are two more games for the team: 

Two teams from the regional competition will advance to the 2011 Little League World Series. The final two championship games are to be televised on ESPN, according to the Central Region website.

and state titles this season. The in Harper Woods; the about a week ago in Midland; the 12s team took it before the 12s International Team was compiled. 

Having three teams advance beyond districts and all earn state titles is rare, according to program and district officials, who have described the success as a tribute to the long-term strength of the program.
