Farmington Hills Woman Found Guilty Of Animal Neglect
Farmington Hills Woman Convicted On Four Misdemeanor Charges Of Animal Neglect In Alleged "Puppy Mill" Case

Mary Gabriel of Farmington Hills was found guilty of animal neglect charges Friday in Livonia District Court. Judge Sean Kavanagh of the 16th District Court released his decision after testimony Dec. 12. The case involved as many as 49 dogs at Gabriel’s Rollcrest Road home kennel, according to Farmington Hills officials. Gabriel breeds golden retrievers, and has been a source of complaints by neighbors for nearly twenty years, according to the Oakland Press.
After being ordered this summer to remove the 16 dogs still at her kennel, Gabriel moved four dogs to a friend’s Livonia home. Animal control officers there, tipped off by Oakland County Animal Control, found the dogs to have inadequate shelter and that their coats were matted with waste. The dogs also had fleas, and Judge Kavanagh cited these conditions in making his ruling, saying “This is long-term neglect.”
