Friends Of The Library Announces Scholarship

Students who have volunteered at the Huntington Woods Library are eligible for two new $500 scholarships.

The Friends of the Huntington Woods Library are offering two $500 scholarships for high school seniors who volunteer at the library. To be eligible, applicants need to have volunteered with the Huntington Woods Library in 2017 or 2018. The scholarships are open to volunteers who will graduate from public, private or home school in 2018, and who have been accepted to a four-year college or community college for fall. Applications are due by Friday, March 30 at 5:00 p.m.

To be considered, applicants must submit a 350-word essay “describing how libraries have helped to achieve academic goals and influenced or had an impact on their personal life,” along with materials including a copy of a high school transcript and a copy of a letter of acceptance to college or university. Students must also have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications are available at the Huntington Woods Library circulation desk or online at the Huntington Woods Library website.

Completed applications should either be mailed in or returned to the circulation desk. The address for complete applications is Friends of the Huntington Woods Library Scholarship Committee, 26415 Scotia Rd., Huntington Woods, MI 48070.
