2. The approval was granted Aug. 23--about the same time the lot was weeded and generally cleaned up. The approval becomes final by Sept. 6 if no appeals are filed with Detroit's Zoning Board of Appeals.

3. A reminder for Grosse Pointe Woods residents: summer taxes are due by Wednesday Aug. 31. Turned in any later and there is a penalty involved.
