GP Farms Police Help Find Endangered Child from Southfield

The 12-year-old girl was taken into Farms police custody and turned over to Southfield Police who took her to her grandmother's house in Southfield Thursday, according to a report.

Farms police received a call Thursday regarding a traffic stop they performed earlier this month on the vehicle belonging to the girl's mother and requesting that if the vehicle is encountered again, to be aware of the endangered child status.

Officers found the vehicle at the gas station shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. The girl and her mother were inside. The mother, who has a mental health issue that is a danger to the girl, was released without charges late Thursday per the instruction of Southfield Police.

Southfield Police officials said parental kidnapping charges have not been filed. Meanwhile, there is an investigation with Detroit Police related to the girl's father, which is why she was given to her grandmother, according to the report.
