Grosse Pointe Farms Mother Pleads Not Guilty at Arraignment

A 40-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday in court during her arraignment on an ordinance violation accusing her of .

The woman is charged with violation of the open house party ordinance—a charge carrying a penalty of up to 90 days in jail and $500 in fines. 

She told Judge Matthew Rumora that she was away from her home and had someone else watching over her son and the other kids but came home as soon as she was made aware of the situation.

She also said she intends to hire an attorney and entered a plea of not guilty. Rumora scheduled her to return to court Aug. 24 for a pretrial hearing. 

Farms police were called to a home in the 400 block of Hillcrest about 2 a.m. July 8 for a noise complaint and police said they found seven boys ranging in age from 16 to 18 at the house with drug paraphernalia and drugs strewn throughout the house. 

Three of the teens were charged with possession of narcotic paraphernalia and the others were referred to the youth officer.
