The Texas woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for her injuries, police said.

At the time of the shooting, the Texas woman was the girlfriend of Butler-Quarles ex-husband, who is no longer associated with him, police said.

Butler-Quarles entered her ex-husband’s home without his permission, "startling" the Texas woman, police said.

Butler-Quarles then pulled out a handgun and shot the woman, police said.

"The bullet entered her left bicep, excited the back of her arm into her left side and exited out of her back," police said.

After firing one shot, Butler-Quarles’ ex-husband was able to wrestle the gun away from her before more shots were fired, police said.
