Grosse Pointe Woods Man Fatally Shoots Younger Brother: Prosecutors

Edmond Doheny, 29,​ was charged with open murder and felony firearm​ in connection to the shooting.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, MI — A Grosse Pointe Woods man is facing charges after fatally shooting his younger brother, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Edmond Doheny, 29, was charged with open murder and felony firearm in connection to the shooting. He was placed in jail with a $1 million cash bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 18.

If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

"This is yet another case of deadly interfamilial violence. This time it is allegedly brother upon brother," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Officers found Dennis Doheny, 19, with a gunshot wound to the head Friday morning inside a home in the 1800 block of Brys Drive, which is off of Mack Avenue, prosecutors said.

Dennis was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, prosecutors said.

Officers found a gun on the second-floor of the home, prosecutors said.
