Grosse Pointe's Special Response Team Responds to Reported Assault

For the third time in a matter of weeks, Grosse Pointe's Special Response Team, or the SRT as it is called by police, responded to a call, this time in .
Officers closed the 1400 block of Maryland Street on Aug. 24 beginning about 3:45 a.m. through about 7:15 a.m. while responding to a call about a felonious assault, Park Public Safety Director David Hiller said.
A 911 caller reported a felonious assault and initially officers could not make contact with the person they believed to be the suspect, prompting the activation of the SRT, he said. It turned out the suspect was not there but the case is still being investigated, Hiller said.Â

There were no injuries, Hiller said, declining to release more information, including the circumstances of the alleged crime because it is still an active, open case.
The road closure was noticeable to passersby, one of whom contacted Patch because an officer was standing near the closure armed with a shotgun.

This is the third time the SRT has been called to the scene of a police investigation in a matter of weeks.
