Harper Woods Man Charged In Non-Fatal Shooting: Prosecutors

Multiple schools in the area were placed on lockdown for hours while police searched for the shooter and investigated the December shooting.

HARPER WOODS, MI — A Harper Woods man was charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting that threw multiple schools into lockdown last December, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Brenitaze Moore, 29, was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felon in possession of a firearm, felonious assault, four counts of felony firearm and domestic violence. He was placed in jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for April 24.

Prosecutors said Moore got into an argument that escalated to a fight with his girlfriend on Dec. 21, 2023 at 8:04 a.m. in the 18900 block of Woodcrest Street.

When the girlfriend then got into a car to try and leave the home, Moore fired multiple shots through the driver's side window, striking the woman in the lower abdomen, according to the prosecutor's office.

Investigators recently found Moore in Delaware, and extradited him back to Michigan, according to the prosecutor's office.
