Harper Woods Woman Drove Drunk; Hit, Killed Man In Wheelchair: Police

A Harper Woods woman is in trouble after fatally striking a man in a wheelchair while driving drunk in Harrison Township, police said.

Darci Repine​, 42, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death. She was placed in jail with a bond set at $50,000. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Harper Woods woman is in trouble after fatally striking a man in a wheelchair Sunday while driving drunk in Harrison Township, according to Macomb County Prosecutors.

Darci Repine, 42, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death. She was placed in jail with a bond set at $50,000. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27.

If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors said a man in an electric wheelchair was crossing a road in the crosswalk in the area of Metropolitan Parkway and North Pointe Parkway at 4:45 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.

Two nurses administered CPR to the man before officials took him to a nearby hospital where he died, officials said.

"When someone drives under the influence and takes an innocent life, we will seek accountability for those actions," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said.
