Lions Hire New President

Rod Wood takes the job as new team president

A victory over the Green Bay Packers Sunday, in Green Bay (first one in over two decades), was exciting enough for fans — now the Detroit Lions eventful week continued Thursday with the hiring of a new team president.

Rod Wood, 55, will take the reigns and oversee the team’s business operations according to a report on WDIV-TV.

Wood was previously president and CEO of Ford Estates, and once served as Executive Vice President of Wealth Management for the Wilmington Trust Company in Delaware.

Wood replaces Tom Lewand, who was let go earlier in the month after the team’s dismal 1-7 start to the season.

Along with the announcement, the team also told the public they have formed an advisory board to aid in the search for a new general manager.
