Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Earns Trip To Little League World Series
The Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League team won the Great Lakes Regional and is headed to the Little League World Series.
The Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League team earned a trip to the Little League World Series with Saturday's 6-3 win over a team from Hinsdale, Illinois, in the Great Lakes Regional finals at Grand Park Sports Campus. in Westfield, Indiana. Little League World Series play for boys ages 12 and younger will take place Aug. 17-27 in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores blanked Lexington, Kentucky, and West Side, Ohio, in Thursday and Friday games. Grosse Pointe opened play in the double-elimination tournament with a loss 10-2 loss to Hamilton West, but then won its next game against New Albany, Indiana, 4-3, in the double elimination tournament.
Teams from Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio played in the Great Lakes Regional.

The Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores team outlasted 16 tams at the Major Baseball State Tournament championship. It’s the second state title the team has won in five years.
