Pedestrian Ok Following Crash In Village
The Detroit woman struck last week in the Village by a motorist who did not see her in the cross walk is doing well, police said.

police issued a citation to the 25-year-old woman who for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a cross walk, Detective Christopher Lee said.Β
The pedestrian, Cynthia Jankowski, 57, of Detroit, was taken to an area hospital from the scene of the crash on Notre Dame Street near Kercheval Avenue. She was talking and alert when she went to the hospital but her condition and the extent of injuries were not clear.
Jankowski is doing well, Lee said, noting that she did not have any significant lasting injuries like broken bones. She was likely severely bruised in the crash, Lee said, noting she is likely still very sore.

The accident investigation completed at the scene and after the crash revealed there were no other contributing factors to the crash and found that it was truly an accident, Lee said.
Raimie Waller, 25, of Grosse Pointe Woods, was given a citation and that is the end of the police investigation, Lee said.

Following that crash, the department was called to another crash Sunday Jan. 8 about 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of University in which a resident backing out of her driveway struck a bicyclist riding in the road, Lee said.
Mark Damberg, 49, of Grosse Pointe, was taken to an area hospital after being struck by Susan Rauh, 44, Lee said. His injuries were of a more serious nature than Jankowski's but ultimately he will be ok, Lee said.
This was another situation in which the driver simply did not see the victim, Lee said. There were not any other contributing factors, he said.
