Police Blotter: Domestic Battery, Theft and Drunken Driving
Police in the Pointes investigate a variety of cases, including a school parking lot volunteer's report that an illegally parked parent tried to back his pickup truck into her when she tried to get his license plate number.

A parking-lot volunteer at reported May 2 to Grosse Pointe Woods police that a man who illegally parked his blue pickup truck tried to back the vehicle into her as she tried to obtain his license plate number. According to a report, the volunteer said the man driving the truck is a repeat offender and he waved her off when she approached the truck to talk to him, continuing to talk on his cell phone. She then went to the back of the pickup to get the plate number. When he put the truck in reverse and began backing up, she moved out of the way to avoid being hit. The truck had an identifiable business on it and police have confirmed that the driver is a Monteith parent, according to a report.
Briefcase,Β Catalytic Converter Reported Stolen
A 51-year-old Woods resident reported to police that his briefcase was stolen from his car in the 500 block of Glen Arbor Lane. He discovered the briefcase was missing May 2 when he went out to his car to leave for work. After double-checking inside the house, he drove to work but it wasn't there either so he drove back home to double-check again. The briefcase contained work documents and some rental car coupons, according to a police report.

A 51-year-old Waterford Township woman reported that the catalytic converter of her car was stolen while the car was parked in the parking lot between April 29 and 30. Officers were able to see that a cutting tool of some kind was used to remove the part, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 17-year-old resident April 30 after a dispute between her and her father. According to a report, the pair argued while the teenager's boyfriend was over. The versions of the fight given by the father and the daughter differ but both agreed the teenager struck her father in the head causing minor bleeding, police said. The girl was arrested and charged with domestic battery.
Drunken Driving
A 44-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman was arrested for drunken driving April 29 near Charlevoix and Vernier roads. The woman was stopped by officers after she was spotted driving on Mack Avenue shortly after midnight without headlights. Officers said she smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking. Field sobriety tests were not administered because the woman recently had leg surgery. She refused to take a portable breath test.Β
