Police Blotter: Heroin, Marijuana Confiscated in Traffic Stop
The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police arrested two people Sept. 12 about 1:15 a.m. on drug charges following a traffic stop initiated for a traffic offense near Kerby and Lake Shore roads. The driver, a 32-year-old Tawas man, was discovered to have two outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions. The passenger, a 20-year-old Tawas woman, was asked to step from the vehicle for a search. Police said that during the search, they discovered she had five syringes in her purse and a baggie of heroin in the glove box. Officers also said they found marijuana joints that were later claimed by the driver. The woman admitted to being clean 11 days from a heroin addiction and said she took the syringes from her father's house so he wouldn't think she was using again. She also admitted to leaving the baggie of heroin in the vehicle the last time she was in it. She also had several loose methadone pills in her purse. Her 11-month-old son was in the vehicle with the pair and was turned over to his father. The driver was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana. The woman was charged with possession of heroin and possession of methadone without a prescription.
Trash Picking Leads to Arrest
police arrested a 56-year-old Detroit man Sept. 11 about 10:30 p.m. on an outstanding warrant. Officers approached the man because he was picking through trash near Wayburn and St. Paul and discovered the felony warrant. During his arrest, the man was found to have a knife and drug paraphernalia on him, according to a report.

Fraud Crimes
Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 39-year-old Farms resident for fraud Sept. 12. The arresting officer spotted the man while patrolling on Moross near Ridge Road and had been given direction from a detective to arrest him. The nature of the fraud was not immediately available.

A woman reported fraudulent use of her bank account to police after receiving notification from her bank. The woman talked with the fraud department of her bank and discovered that there had been one $400 ATM withdrawal and two telephone transfers totaling $2,300. The withdrawal happened in Miami, FL, and the woman told police she did not authorize the transactions nor did she know who had accessed her accounts, according to a report.
A resident reported that her debit card had been fraudulently used twice. She reported the crimes Sept. 8 after her bank contacted her about the purchases being possible fraud. One purchase was made online with a popular technology store for $275 and the other purchase was for $40 at an unknown location, according to a report.
Laptop Stolen for Heroin Purchase
A City of Grosse Pointe woman reported that her laptop computer had been stolen on Sept. 10 some time between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. from inside her home on Notre Dame Street. The woman reported she left it on a table, left her house and returned a few hours later to discover it was missing from where she had left it. The woman later received a phone call from a 21-year-old man who told her he took it and sold it to buy heroin, according to a report.
Man Reports Neighbor to Police
An 81-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms man reported to police that his neighbor came onto his property and cut down a mulberry bush without his permission between Sept. 10 and Sept. 14. The man told officers the neighbor has done this in the past and that when he approached the neighbor, he said he did it because branches were hanging over his fence onto the neighbor's property, according to a report.
Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest
Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 29-year-old Detroit man after he stopped for a red light and then drove through it near Mack and East Warren Sept. 13. The man was stopped near Frankfort and Gateshead and discovered to be a registered sex offender. He was arrested for driving on a suspended license, according to a report.
Man Refuses to ID Self to Police
Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 57-year-old Detroit man Sept. 11 after he was found sleeping in his car and refused to identify himself to officers. He was booked as John Doe until the officers could find out his identity. There were no signs of criminal activity where he was found sleeping, but the car was searched. A scan revealed his identity related to a criminal history in three different states and showed an order related to his mental health from an area court. After police told him they knew his identity and began processing his release, the man began talking oddly. He was transported to an area hospital and a commitment petition was filed, according to a report.
