Police Blotter: Would-Be Thief Leaves Blood at Scene
The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A resident reported early on Aug. 22 that he found damage to his vehicle that apparently happened overnight. The man found his car, which was parked in his driveway in the 1900 block of Littlestone Road, with a broken rear driver's side window, a broken gear shift and damage to the center console that holds a navigation system. Blood was also found in the car, leading police to believe the would-be thief cut him or herself during the attempted crime, according to a report.
Drunk Driving Arrest
Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a person Aug. 20 near Mack and Vernier for drunken driving after the driver began driving erratically about 2:30Â a.m. According to a report, the driver pulled up next to a police officer at a stop light with an open window and very loud music. A passenger then warned the driver that a police officer was next to him and when the light changed, the driver seemed to suddenly notice the officer, abruptly changed lanes, stopped in the middle of an intersection and began backing up, nearly hitting the squad car. The man refused to take a portable breath test and failed the field sobriety tests administered. A chemical breath test at the station revealed he had a 0.20 percent blood alcohol content, police said. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having open containers in the car and for refusing to take the portable test.
