State Champs: 9-10 Grosse Pointe Park Little League Team
The team played Thursday afternoon in Harper Woods and took the title with a 9-0 win against Bay City Northwest.
The 9-10 Grosse Pointe Park Little League team clinched the state title with another win Thursday bringing the .Â
The team had a strong lead holding a 6-0 score into the fifth inning of the game at Johnston Park in Harper Woods Thursday. Dozens of parents, grandparents and residents from the Pointes surrounded the field wearing Grosse Pointe gear.Â
Winning the state title is the highest achievement for the 9-10 Little Leaguers and this team has taken the district title three years in a row. They've been .Â

Meanwhile, the 11-year-old team also took the district title and earned the state title earlier this week. The 12s International team left Thursday morning for Indianapolis, where they will compete in the Great Lakes Regional and have a chance to advance to the 2011 Little League World Series.Â
Program and district officials have noted the tremendous success and have explained how rare it is for one program to bring home so many titles in the same year.Â

For the 12s International Team, it's the first time since the 1970s the team has advanced this far in competitions.
A Wednesday night recognized all of the players for the entire program from the 8-year-olds up and the 12s received a police escort out of town Thursday morning.Â
