5 Things to Know About Hartland's Historical Society

From donating to volunteering, here are five quick things to know about Hartland's Historical Society.

1. The Hartland Area Historical Society was founded in 1970 to preserve the heritage and history of the Hartland Area, to support the Florence B. Dearing Museum and its collection, and to encourage the acquisition of additional donations for the museum.

2. The Hartland Area Historical Society holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of every month, at 7 p.m. in the Florence B. Dearing Museum in the village of Hartland.

3. HAHS is always looking for individuals who want to get involved. The Florence B. Dearing is open two days a week, and docents are needed to assist visitors while touring the museum. Museum hours are Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

4. Find the HAHS on Facebook at Hartland Area Historical Society Facebook Group.

5. The museum accepts historical and cultural objects, photographs, and archival materials relating to the rural past of the Hartland area from circa 1830's through the 1950's. In 2007, the Hartland Area Historical Society Board of Trustees meeting adopted a Collections Policy for items in the museum or aquired by the museum. The scope of collection statement tells you what the museum collects, both now and in the future.
