1. Meteors & S'Mores

  • When: August 9 at 9 p.m.
  • Where: Brighton State Recreation Area,
  • What: Join the University Lowbrow Astronomers for this special astronomy event.  With your naked eye you will be able to watch potentially hundreds of meteors flash across the sky as they enter our atmosphere.  They are best viewed while laying on your back, so it is advised you bring a lawn chair or a blanket.  Sometimes the optimum viewing of the Perseids is well into the evening and even after midnight, so you may want to come prepared for a long night or even arrive a little later than the official start.
2. Child Hunger Ends Here Softball Tournament and After Party
  • When: August 10 starting at 9 a.m.
  • Where: TAGS Sports Complex
  • What: The Parking Lot Party coincides with the "Child Hunger Ends Here!" softball tournament and the American Legion Riders Poker Run. The cost is only $5 to get in and proceeds go to help both Gleaners and the ALR's Legacy Fund which provides scholarships for children of U.S. Service Men/Women killed since 9/11.
3. Milford Memories Summer Festival
  • When: August 9, 10 and 11
  • Where: Downtown Milford
  • What: The annual event includes art, live entertainment, food, a kids' activity area, Civil War encampment & beer tent.
4. Taste in Fenton
  • When: August 10 starting at 12 p.m.
  • Where: Fenton Community & Cultural Center
  • What: Downtown Fenton becomes a dining and art spectacular featuring beautiful works of art plus delicious samples from dozens of Fenton area eateries.
