New Training Facility Motto: 'Better People, Better Players, Better Athletes'
The new Legacy Center will begin running sports programs on Nov. 2.
Breaking ground less than four months ago, the Legacy Center is wasting no time in bringing sports, fitness and a healthier lifestyle to Livingston County.
Beginning next month, the athletic, recreational, training and fitness facility, located on 120 acres just north of Winans Lake Rd., will begin offering programs housed under the newly added 104,000 square foot dome enclosing an artificial turf soccer and lacrosse field.
It's the beginning of a new legacy and vision for training young athletes in Livingston County, according to Droo Callahan, Director of Sports and Programing for the Legacy Center.
"We're building a great facility, but what's behind the facility is more important," Callahan said. "We broke athletes down into their athletic ability, the skill they play but then there's this third wing that we're most prideful about and that's the person itself."
By focusing on the three aspects of the athlete/ player/ person, Callahan said that "triangle" is the governing body and goal of the Legacy Center which is designed to help create a more well-rounded, prepared and highly-trained athlete.
"Better people, better players, better athletes is our goal," said General Manager John Chwalibog. "Really the facility is just an enabler for that."
With added services such as ACT prep, free tutoring, leadership training and a mentoring program, the Legacy Center is focused on providing services in every aspect of a Legacy athlete's life, including family.
By building an all-inclusive, year-round fitness facility, the Legacy Center hopes to become a family destination as well with activities available for every age group and level once construction is complete.
Winter leagues and sessions begin Nov. 2 and registration is currently open.
