Through the generous donations of one local couple, the Hartland Senior Center is one step closer to seeing their vision of creating an "adult sports pocket park" completed.
Joan and Pat Bergman were honored on Wednesday afternoon with a dedication ceremony for a new pavilion located outside the senior center, next to the pickleball courts, a sport that has quickly become a favorite past time for many area seniors.
With the support of Hartland Schools and Community Education and through the efforts of dedicated senior center members and community donations, the outdoor area at the Hartland Educational Support Service Center is quickly becoming a usable space for recreation and outdoor enjoyment.
Other future additions to the senior center sports park may include bocci ball, shuffle board and outdoor lighting for the nearby courts.
'We still have a vision and we keep working at it a phase at a time," senior center member Jim Parker said. "The total effort has been supported tremendously by the school system and the people who run it and I can't say enough about Michelle (Otis) and her support, the school board and their support and we all appreciate it."
