Hartland Teen Power Races to Personal Best Finish

12-year-old Nik Miskerik took third place in the APBA National Championships in New York this summer.

Here at Patch, we love to regularly spotlight young people in the Hartland community who are successful, talented and just plain awesome.

But we need your help. We know those kids are out there doing great things for and in the community, so let us know about them so we can help spread the word.

Today we feature Hartland Middle School seventh grader Nik Miskerik

  • Introduction: Nik, 12, is continuing with a family tradition of powerboat racing and is in his fourth year of racing in the Junior Category of outboard hydroplane racing.
  • Achievement: Two weeks ago, Nik competed in the American Power Boat Association (APBA) National Championships in Whitney Point, New York.
  • Keys to awesomeness:  Nik took third place in the Junior Runabout and second place in Junior Hydro (JH) narrowly missing out on a National Title. This was his best finish at the Nationals to date.
Do you know a local young person who deserves applause because he or she shovels the elderly neighbors' driveway? Or perhaps athletic achievements are worth sharing. Everyone deserves attention, and we want to tell these stories. Email nominations to local editor Tatum Ryan at tatum.ryan@patch.com, provide the information shown above and include a photo with names and ages.
