• Howell preschool abruptly closes after 35+ years, leaving families scrambling for child care (wxyz.com) — Families in Howell are suddenly without child care after the First Presbyterian Church preschool closed immediately due to financial problems, despite earlier plans to stay open through May. Dozens of children now need new placements, while the church says it will refund unused tuition and cover staff pay and remaining debts. 
• Fireball over Mid-Michigan seen throughout Midwest states (wkar.org) — Residents in Howell may have spotted a bright fireball streaking across the sky Saturday night, part of a meteor event visible from Bay City to Detroit and even neighboring states. Weather cameras in Howell helped scientists estimate the meteor’s breakup zone near Lansing, and experts say any meteorites that reached the ground would belong to the property owners who find them.
• Brighton vigil honors Renee Good, killed by ICE agent, as protests spread statewide (michiganadvance.com) — Howell residents recently joined statewide protests over the killing of Renee Good, with dozens gathering locally to criticize ICE and the Trump administration’s immigration policies. A Howell attendee described the vigil as both mourning and a warning about rising authoritarianism, while others from Livingston County stressed the need to keep protesting for constitutional rights.
