Suspects Steal Backpack from Unlocked Car in Hartland

On Saturday, a witness called police after seeing a man walking through the Waldenwoods Shopping Center parking lot in Hartland, pulling on door handles checking for unlocked cars, according to a report from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

Police say that while one man walked through the parking lot, a second person was seen driving a tan-colored truck following behind him.

The incident took place in the Waldenwoods Shopping Center parking lot located at 10059 Highland Rd., and according to the report, the witness saw one of the men open an unlocked vehicle and take out a brown backpack.

The man was then seen getting into the tan-colored truck with the second suspect. Police say they then traveled west on Highland Road.

According to the report, the backpack was worth approximately $50 and did not contain anything of value.
