Where to Buy Fireworks in Hartland

There are several nearby events to help Hartland residents celebrate the upcoming holiday including the annual Independence Day Parade in downtown Brighton, an although a fireworks show is not offered, for the second year, local residents can also set off Fourth of July fireworks in their own backyards.

A state law and city ordinances that went into effect last year allow consumer fireworks to be used on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with the days before and after each holiday.

According to the Hartland Township Facebook page, the Township does have a Nuisance Ordinance in effect that regulates noise.

"The ordinance is enforceable from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on any day except the day before, day of and day after a national holiday," the post read. "The State amended its Fireworks Act in late June to allow communities like Hartland Township to prohibit the discharge of fireworks from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. the day before, day of and day after a national holiday. The township will consider including this provision in the Nuisance Ordinance, but did not have sufficient notice to review the language in time for this year’s celebrations."

  • Do not approach a firework that does not go off. Because each firework is different, it is very difficult to put a timeline on how long to leave it before touching. Fireworks can be thoroughly soaked with water and discarded in the trash (not inside the house or garage) after there is no concern of a delayed ignition.
